Using Facebook Connect

The Facebook Connect system is a new feature for the Free Press Community (FPC) and we are in the process of creating this instruction section to assist those who wish to use this service.

Facebook Connect allows users who already have a Facebook Account to seamlessly connect their Facebook Account and information with your site with a single sign on process which does not require the user to remember multiple account information.

After connecting through Facebook, your Facebook Profile Image and your current Status will appear in your new FPC Account, along with any other Profile related information from Facebook. 

Signing up…

- Bookmark or Favourite the FPC Main Page.

- Click on the “Connect with Facebook” button.



- When signing up through Facebook Connect for the first time, please make sure you are not logged on to your Facebook Account at the same time. (After your initial Signing Up process it won’t make any difference if you are logged into Facebook when you sign into the FPC.)



- After Facebook Connect takes place, update your email address and you’re done.  (Make sure you use the right email for your Facebook Account.)

- After your initial Connection, you may or may not see a small window with the FPC in it, enlarge the window, check to see if there are further instructions, finish any other request, close the window. Reopen your Browser, click on the FPC Link you made earlier and follow the Logging in steps. 

Logging in…

- Do not use the regular Login area.

- Click on your FPC Link and click on the “Connect with Facebook” button, sign in with your Facebook email address and password, click Connect.  This step may or may not be skipped and the next step may be the first you see after clicking on “Connect with Facebook” button.

- A box will appear that says - “Congratulations ‘YourName’. You have been successfully authenticated by Facebook” – click continue and you are logged in.  

Friend Linking…

FPC Members can still invite friends through the regular channels. We are currently making inroads into having it so that your friends will automatically show up as well.
